2018-2019 Concert Season
On November 11, 2018, Open Voices performed for the 4th and last time at PeaceQuest‘s “The World Remembers” concert at the Isabel Bader Centre for Performing Arts. This event commemorated the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.
On February 2, 2019, Open Voices performed two shows of “Soul Revolution” Concert with Coco Love Alcorn at Cooke’s-Portsmouth United Church. In typical Coco style, she had the whole audience singing along!
On June 8, 2019, Brian Tate — a Vancouver-based vocalist, composer/arranger, choir director, and educator — is featured at “Raise The Roof” where he will guest conduct Open Voices, She Sings! Women’s Choir and Kingston Youth Choir at the Isabel Bader Centre for Performing Arts. This concert is supported by The Ballytobin Foundation.
On October 27, 2018, Open Voices performed at The Spire in “Building Bridges,” a benefit concert to support one Syrian family’s resettlement in Kingston. The concert showcased the wide variety of musical talent in Kingston, including the Kingston Choral Society, Ocean Bound, Jan LeClair (accordian), Clare Miller (piano), and Kyoto Ogoda (marimba). A special feature was a traditional Syrian folk group called Syrian Hope.
On March 8th, 2019, Open Voices came out to the Leon’s Centre to cheer on the Kingston Frontenacs, and to sing the national anthem at the hockey game. A buskering performance at intermission was also part of this fun community gig.
On May 8th, 2019, members of the Open Voices Choir sailed aboard the Island Belle of Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises to arrive at the Thousand Islands Playhouse in Gananoque. There, a performance with the Gananoque Youth Choir and the Gananoque Secondary School Band and Choir, raised funds (and fun!) for Youth Arts in Gananoque.
