Volunteers are needed for tech set up, soul food, and concert committee; a member check-in is open and looking for your input; reminders about tomorrow’s community gig, our “Marketplace”, and choir health. Watch for details about the upcoming Annual Meeting. And there’s something in the lost-and-found.
Administrative
- HEALTHY CHOIR HYGIENE PRACTICES (Diana Hopkins-Rosseel)
- Please self-screen for respiratory or other transmissible infections before leaving for choir & stay at home if you are potentially infectious
- Please consider wearing an N95 mask when you 1st return to rehearsal after an infection
- Hand hygiene is important … washing with soap is best, hand sanitizer when soap & water not available, dry hands well before touching objects
- If you cough or sneeze, please look down and cough or sneeze into your arm; if you cough into your hand, please wash your hands before interacting in the rehearsal hall
- Be careful sharing music, pencils & stands
- ANNUAL MEETING (Linda Williams)
- The Annual Meeting will take place during rehearsal next week. Please keep your eyes open for an email with the Agenda and info to be presented.
- Thank you, Alice Rush-Rhodes, for being the one-time scribe for this meeting.
- MARKETPLACE (Diana-Hopkins Rosseel)
- A reminder that members are welcome to use the lobby at the church, our “Marketplace,” where information, such as event promotion, etc. can be shared that is not related to the business of Open Voices.
- The announcements in the rehearsal hall are reserved for OV-related information only.
Concert
- CONCERT COMMITTEE (Skot Caldwell)
- If you might be interested in joining this committee, we’ll have a brief (less than 30 minute) meeting after normal rehearsal on October 8th. There is a sign-up on the board, to give a sense of interest but also a sense of what tasks need doing.
- Tasks include: ticket production and sales, promotion, contact media, poster design, program design/production, after party planning, and crew.
- Apprenticeships between those who have been involved before and those who would like to get involved are welcome.
Committees
- MUSIC COMMITTEE (Diana Hopkins-Rosseel)
- As announced last week, the first Music Committee meeting will occur after rehearsal tonight, September 24, in the Friendship Room, from 9:05 – 9:55 p.m.
- The agenda has been shared with the core members, but all who are interested in the music are welcome.
- LIBRARY TABLE (Dianne Dowling)
- Drop in to the library table to pick up any materials that come available, and/or just say ‘hi’.
- Someone’s notes were picked up from the event for Kat in the summer. They are on a purple, lined piece of paper. See Dianne if they are yours.
Volunteers
- SOUL FOOD (Wendy Stewart)
- Sign ups to do Soul Food are at the Library table. A reminder that they are to be no more than 2 minutes.
- TECH SET UP (Shawn Suenaga)
- Shawn is looking for volunteers to help with setting up the tech equipment before rehearsals. No experience necessary; he will show you the ropes.
- If he can get one volunteer per section, he can create a schedule that accounts for sectionals to avoid conflicts, and even correspond with sectionals of spouses, if applicable (i.e., when they have their sectional, you can be setting up).
- See Shawn (bass section) if you are interested.
Community Gigs
- COMMUNITY GIG REMINDER: Sept 25, 7pm (Linda Williams)
- Tomorrow – Meet inside the lobby of Providence Care Hospital (King St W. and Portsmouth Ave) by 7pm to sing for Pam, on Heritage 1. Music is on the website under Members Only/Community Outreach – Songs for Pam

- MEMBER CHECK-IN (Mary Gauthier)
- The board is looking to check in with members during this time of transition into a new stage in the life of Open Voices, with Liam as our new Artistic Director.
- Two questions:
- What do you need during this time of transition?
- How can the choir and its members support Liam?
- Two ways to answer:
- Online form: MEMBER CHECK-IN – open until Tuesday, September 30th
- In-person: Flip charts with sticky notes and pens are set up in the lobby of Cooke’s tonight, Wednesday, September 24th.
- Answers are anonymous, unless you want to put down your name.
